When approved as the statutory development plan for the Borough, Suttons' Local Development Framework(LDF) will replace the Unitary Development Plan. The LDF consists of a range of Development Plan Documents(DPDs), including the Core Planning Strategy, the Site Development Policies, the Sutton Town Centre Plan and the South London Joint Waste Plan, together with a number of Supplementary Planning Documents(SPDs).
Development Plan Documents are subject to rigorous procedures of community involvement, consultation and independent examination. Once adopted, planning decisions must be made in accordance with DPD unless material considerations indicate otherwise.
Sustainability Appraisal (incorporating Strategic Environmental Assessment) must be undertaken as part of the preparation of all DPDs.
